A single cross-channel route is available from Caen connecting with Portsmouth in the south of England. Just one company operates services along this route, Brittany Ferries.

Several sailings depart daily, early morning, afternoon and overnight, with an additional fast service. Wednesdays, however, has only two sailings, but there is no real seasonal change in services, with the except on the suspension of fast services in winter.

The Caen to Portsmouth ferry route is operated by Brittany Ferries who makes three crossings per day. The journey time on the regular speed craft is approximately five hours while the express vessel makes the crossing in 3 hours, 45 minutes. The overnight ferry takes it easier, arriving 76 hours later. Three vessels serve this route; the Mont St Michel, Normandie and Normandie Express.
